global mission

Hilmar Covenant takes Christ's "Great Commission" to "go and make disciples of all nations" very seriously! Since the very beginning of our existence, our congregation has sent both full time and short term missionaries to countries all around the world.

In recent years, we have developed a full and rich ministry of global outreach. Currently, we take a group of students and adults to Mexico every summer, serving with our "sister church" in the Tijuana colonia of Francisco Villa. We also lead one other cross cultural mission trip annually, including trips to Ecuador, Brazil, China, and India.

Sometimes global missions can actually happen at home. In 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 we partnered with "Feed My Starving Children" to hand pack meals for hungry kids around the world. Instead of spending money on travel and personnel, we raised funds to bring Mobile Pack food packing events to our community, providing 676,512 meals that will feed 1852 children a fully nutritious meal every day for an entire year! The missionaries we currently support as they serve in various parts of the world are:

  • Roy & Aleta Danforth (Central African Republic)
  • Paul & Sheryl Noren (Africa)
  • Don & Lillian Dwight (Taiwan)
  • Harvey Lundquist (Alaska)
  • Ken & Adrienne Satterberg (France)

local mission

Hilmar Covenant has always invested much of its time and resources in this community. Hilmar Christian Children's Center, Hilmar Helping Hands, serving food to the homeless through the Turlock Gospel Mission dinners, Senior Brown Bags, adopt-a-highway on Lander Avenue, "Fit ' Free" aerobics, English classes for Spanish speakers, summer Vacation Bible School for children, Hilmar High School chaplaincy, and Mommy & Me Playdates are just some of the ways our congregation seeks to be a blessing to our community. Join us as we reach out to share the love and compassion of Jesus in tangible ways to Hilmar!

August 24th-September 3rd - $900 + Airfare

Nine days in Lyon with a focus on our ministry. English teaching and conversation is the best way to interact with refugees and asylum seekers (and French as well). Through the English class we will organize picnics in the park, games and other activities. If John Kerl is here we can do a day on Protestantism in France with a guided tour of Lyon. There will be opportunities for a few women to go out with Adrienne to prayer walk in areas where they meet women who are in prostitution. Worshiping in our local French church and visiting the International church or Anglican church for English worship.

  • Ministry preparation each morning 9:30 am-Noon
  • English classes 2:00-5:00 pm
  • Evenings to see the city, eat out, attend free concerts, connect with refugees at events, etc.

global 6k for water

6 kilometers is the average distance that people in the developing world walk for water—water that is often contaminated with life-threatening diseases. On Saturday, May 19th, thousands of participants from around the globe will walk or run 6k to bring life-changing clean water to communities in need. Each participant's registration fee provides life-changing clean water for one person, so when you participate in the Global 6K for Water you take that 6K distance away from people in need. -
